What are the main benefits for volunteering at the 16th Annual Strategic Procurement Opportunity Conference & Awards Gala?
Volunteering provides a unique opportunity to interact with WBEC-West staff, corporate representatives, as well as other business owners. Volunteers will be able to get a behind-the-scene experience, which will provide an insiders’ view to WBEC-West as well as the procurement/supplier diversity world. Also, volunteers will receive ONE FREE AWARDS GALA TICKET VALUED AT $275 that can be used for themselves or their spouse.
Will I still need to register for the conference?
Yes, if you plan on participating in the conference activities, volunteers must register for the event. There is no registration discount for volunteering. If you do not plan on participating in the conference activities, volunteers can redeem the complimentary gala ticket for themselves and attend the gala only.
What will the shifts be at the conference?
WBEC-West staff has broken down the volunteer shifts in 3-4 hour increments beginning Monday, September 9, 2019. WBEC-West requires volunteers to work a minimum of 8 hours in order to redeem the FREE Awards Dinner ticket. Volunteers are able to sign up for less than 8 hours and still enjoy the event. Please note times are subject to change, WBEC-West appreciates flexibility.
What types of responsibilities and tasks will I be taking on as a volunteer?
Volunteers play a major role in the success of WBEC-West’s annual conference. Volunteers will work closely with WBEC-West staff on checking attendees in at registration, facilitating transitions between events, assisting in silent auction activity, Matchmaker, and Awards Dinner events.
Shifts are throughout the entire conference, which allows Certified WBEs to still volunteer while taking advantage of all education and networking opportunities.
Will there be training?
Yes, all volunteers will be expected to participate in a VOLUNTEER TRAINING CONFERENCE call on August 22, 2019 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, which will provide event information, onsite specifics, and expectations. WBEC-West will also host an ONSITE TRAINING - TBD at this time.
